Citando “dificuldades e a instabilidade no mercado de entretenimento no Brasil”, a organização do festival Sónar São Paulo cancelou a edição 2013 nesta segunda-feira, 18. Pet Shop Boys, Explosions in the Sky, Matmos, Jamie Lidell e The Roots encabeçavam a escalação de peso do evento, que desfruta de reconhecimento forte na cena alternativa em suas edições de Barcelona, na Espanha, Reykjavík, na Islândia, Tóqui e Osaka, no Japão.
Na capital paulista, o festival aconteceria pela terceira vez, em 24 e 25 de maio. A Dream Factory e a Advanced Music, empresas que produziam a versão nacional, informaram que ainda não haviam ingressos à venda, o que dispensa a necessidade de ressarcimento. O comunicado sobre o cancelamento do Sónar São Paulo aconteceu através da página oficial do festival no Facebook, e os organizadores não entraram em maiores detalhes sobre a motivação.
