  • The first part of the title comes from Meher Baba, who was Pete Townshend’s spiritual guru. The second part comes from Terry Riley, an experimental, minimalist composer Townshend admired – many of the keyboard riffs and sound effects on Who’s Next were a result of Riley’s influence. According to the Who’s Next liner notes, Townshend wrote it as his vision of what would happen if the spirit of Meher Baba was fed into a computer and transformed into music. The result would be Baba in the style of Terry Riley, or “Baba O’Riley.”

finalmente, vi o documentário “lambert & stamp” que está no cardápio do NOW… é o seguinte: CABRIOCÁRICO, ESTONTEANTE, BRUTAL, MARAVILHOSO… impressionante a trajetória de kit lambert e chris stamp como responsáveis pelo the who e, de quebra, pelo lançamento de jimi hendrix. mas, até aí, nada de mais (?!), o fundamental no documentário é a forma anti-padronização usada por eles para tornar realidade sonhos-desejos-maluquices-fissuras. caramba, kit e chris foram dois dos maiores malucos (em todos os sentidos) do entretenimento terráqueo… não deixe de conferir como o mundo girava no século passado e como certas pessoas impregnaram nossas vidinhas forévis… mesmo que você nunca tenha tido nenhuma suspeita disso.

– Pete Townshend wrote this song about a revolution. In the first verse, there is an uprising. In the middle, they overthrow those in power, but in the end, the new regime becomes just like the old one (“Meet the new boss, same as the old boss”). Townshend felt revolution was pointless because whoever takes over is destined to become corrupt. In Townshend: A Career Biography, Pete explained that the song was antiestablishment, but that “revolution is not going to change anything in the long run, and people are going to get hurt.”

semana passada, trombei com a grosseria abaixo onde john esmigalha o alembic na gravação de “won’t get fooled again”, em 1978, nos estúdios shepperton. essa apresentação foi realizada, especialmente, para o documentário “the kids are alright”, lançado ano seguinte.

que coisa! reparou os cornos que ele faz na hora em que pete passa (sem aparecer aqui, a imagem está fechada em john) deslizando de joelhos aos 9 minutos? hahahahahahahaha…

portanto, segura a peça…
